Tight players can be tough opponents to play against. Always waiting for the best starting hand before entering a pot, its hard to want to be in a hand with a tight player. It pays to be wary around a tight player, but not every tight player is a dangerous one. There are two main types of tight poker players, one of which being much more dangerous than the other.

The first type is the tight-aggressive poker player. These guys are tough to play against, because they’ll sit out hands until they’ve got something they like, and then they’ll play against you with aggressive betting. These guys are tough because when they’re in the hand, it’s usually because they like what they’ve got, and they’ll be sure to make it expensive to see them to the river.

The next type is tight-passive player. These guys are much easier to play against, because even when they do have a decent pair of hole cards, they are loathe to bet more chips than they have to. Where a tight-aggressive player will happily pour chips into the pot when they’ve got a winning hand, a tight-passive player makes it much easier to dry to draw a winner by checking/ to the river. Remember this and be prepared at your next poker online tournaments.
