Stephen Gately, a singer with the Boyzone group, died suddenly and circumstances concerning this are becoming clearer as each day passes. The results of the first test that was done after his death, showed that Gately had fluid in his lungs, also known as pulmonary edema. He could have choked on his own fluids. People who have pulmonary edema have difficulty breathing and there were also small amounts of oxygen in the blood. Further investigations determined that Gately went partying that night at a gay bar and got drunk.
When Gately’s mom heard that he died, she shared with a friend that she knew it was a heart condition that went undetected. This gave her relief knowing this as the thoughts of him dying as a result of cannabis consumption was more than she could bear.
