Stephen Gately, a singer with the Boyzone group, died suddenly and circumstances concerning this are becoming clearer as each day passes. At first, authorities thought that Stephen Gately passed away of an undetected heart condition, but more testing was done and traces of cannabis were found inside Gately’s body.

Two of Stephen Gately’s friends, Andrew Cowley, his civil partner, and Georgi Dochev from Bulgaria were with Gately when he died. They revealed to investigators during an interview that Stephen Gately was smoking cannabis.

Since it was brought out about Stephen Gately smoking cannabis, more tests need to be run to determine his exact cause of death.

The results of the first test that was done after his death, showed that Gately had fluid in his lungs, also known as pulmonary edema. He could have choked on his own fluids. People who have pulmonary edema have difficulty breathing and there were also small amounts of oxygen in the blood. Further investigations determined that Gately went partying that night at a gay bar and got drunk.

When Gately’s mom heard that he died, she shared with a friend that she knew it was a heart condition that went undetected. This gave her relief knowing this as the thoughts of him dying as a result of cannabis consumption was more than she could bear.

There are still unanswered questions in Stephen Gately’s death. Did he die as a result of smoking cannabis? Did he die because he partied a lot and drank too much at the gay bar? Did he die because of a heart condition that went undetected?

When Gately died, he was vacationing on the Spanish island of Majorca. His body was found on Saturday. There will be a wake tonight and then his family and close friends will bury him in Ireland tomorrow.
