DLP, Digital Light Processing, represents a product offering of rear projection televisions from Mitsubishi Electric. The Mitsubishi 65 in. DLP HDTV happens to be part of a family of televisions that also include 60″, 73″ and 82″ models. Often referred to as Home Theater televisions, due to their large size, these televisions are intended for large rooms or small auditorium style settings. Unlike older style rear projection televisions their quality and dimensions have improved dramatically as the technology advances.

DLP technology is considered to be the least expensive of the HDTV choices per square inch of viewing space. Of note is the concept that this technology is not affected by altitude so it may be something to consider if you are looking for HDTV to be used in mountain-based housing or resort settings.

The Mitsubishi 65 in. DLP HDTV has full 1080p HDTV functionality and will even accept signals via antenna or the more conventional satellite or cable signal that has become the standard for HDTV. The depth from front-to-back for the 65″ model is only 16″ so it can be mounted close to walls on a base or cabinet.

At 72 lbs. it is light enough that it could be mounted on a rolling base and used as moveable television source for meeting rooms in a hotel setting. But it is just as suitable for those that have the luxury of a large in-home theater where it will take its appropriate place as the centerpiece for that entertainment space.

Another important feature of the Mitsubishi 65 in. DLP HDTV is that it uses about half the power of similar sized flat panel televisions. It has the Energy Star 3.0 qualification and is 3D Ready. Utilizing a 12-bit processor for added color enhancement, it uses an exclusive 6-color processor to ensure color that is hard to match at any size.
